The Cancer Research Division is an integrated team of strongly interactive research groups undertaking research aimed at increasing the international knowledge base on the development, progression, treatment and prevention of human cancers.

The Australian Genomic Cancer Medicine Program (AGCMP) encompasses several cohort studies to improve the understanding, early detection, prevention and management of cancer. This is includes the Molecular Screening and Therapeutics (MoST) Program, which is recruiting patients at multiple sites in Australia.  A Senior Research Coordinator is required to coordinate the clinical substudy component of MoST, nationally. 

 

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a National Coordinator to coordinate the clinical substudy component of MoST, nationally.

Reporting to Dr Mandy Ballinger – Group Leader of Genetic Cancer Risk, the key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate clinical substudy referrals nationally
  • Explain research projects to patients, family members and clinicians
  • Monitor and track patient recruitment in various clinical substudies nationally
  • Coordinate all aspects of study participation in a well-organised and timely manner
  • Track biospecimen collection and coordinate sample transfer from study sites to a centralised laboratory
  • Coordinate biospecimen processing at the centralised laboratory for translation oncology research
  • Ensure that study databases are maintained with accurate records
  • Generate regular cohort reports on sub-study status and progress
  • Assist with the establishment of new study sites, and provide ongoing support to staff at study sites
  • Update and maintain study manuals and operating procedures
  • Ensure data security is maintained to protect patient records, both physically and electronically
  • Assist with coordination and administration of associated projects

 

The role will be offered full-time for 2 years in the first instance.

 

About You

You will possess the following key skills and qualifications:

Essential Skills

  • An appropriate science, nursing, psychology or related degree, or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders
  • High level of organisation and effective time management skills
  • A strong commitment to quality
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sensitivity to patients privacy and needs
  • Excellent attention to detail an understand the importance of maintaining accurate and concise records
  • Consistent interpretation of data

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge and/or experience with database systems and records management
