The Opportunity

We are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Technical Audio Visual Coordinator to provide audio visual skills and expertise, as well as assist in the management of events. As well as the numerous meeting facilities and resources, Garvan hosts academic conferences, fundraising events and educational tours, and also hires out these facilities to external parties. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide all technical AV support for meetings, seminars and events
  • Testing and maintenance of all AV equipment and back-end infrastructure including software, firmware and hardware upgrades
  • Set-up and maintenance of furniture, equipment, rooms and venues for events
  • Assist in the management of venue booking calendar and events onsite
  • Liaise with event organisers and external contractors associated with events regarding event logistics, insurances and inductions
  • Liaise and communicate with other Garvan support services staff regarding any details they may need associated with the event

To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate the following key skills:

  • Polycom audio/video expertise and familiarity with other video conferencing applications
  • AMX Control Systems knowledge
  • Advanced skills in both Mac and PC operating systems
  • PowerPoint presentation applications skills
  • Good time management skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Flexible attitude to work
  • Ability to adapt and solve time-critical problems
  • Willingness to work after hours when required
