The Opportunity
We are currently seeking to appoint a Shared Infrastructure Services Manager to join our team. This position will report to the Chief Information Officer and will be responsible for all aspects of Shared Technology Infrastructure services. With accountability for providing efficient, effective systems and shared infrastructure services while providing a high level of customer service to support the user community, the Shared Infrastructure Services Manager will manage a team of technical specialists to deliver services such as information security, hardware and appliances.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that the IT infrastructure is supported and available at all times of the business day
- Maintaining system, network, and security disaster recovery plans, scripts, and coordinating testing
- Providing timely and accurate status reporting, budgeting, estimating and scheduling tasks of medium to high complexity
- Coordinating efforts of system professionals
- Management and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure
- Installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of operating systems, application software and system management tools
- Participation in the deployment of Office 365 and managing Azure AD, Exchange and email backup
- Participating in the design of information and operational support systems
- Providing operational support
- Managing vendor/partner relationships
- Leading requirement gathering workshops with customers on behalf of Technology Services
- Providing critical review of Technical designs/architectures produced by Garvan entities and third parties
- Building, testing and deploying information systems for the Garvan and its affiliated organisations
- Gaining an understanding of the research objectives of the Garvan Research Programs and ensuring their needs are met
- Providing a service oriented, “can-do”, “being a player”, “take charge” attitude
- Development of the technical, planning, communication and interpersonal skills of the team
The successful candidate will possess the following key skills and attributes:
- Tertiary level education or equivalent
- Technical, hands-on IT and Telco experience across IP Telephony, telephone systems and cabling topology
- Demonstrates awareness of internal and external dynamics, and an acute perception of the dimensions of business issues
- ICT, security, PA and AV technology in a research/education environment (or equivalent)
- Broad technology knowledge in Microsoft Office, Windows, Mac and Linux Operating Systems, google apps, Cloud Services, wireless analysis, datacentres, and intranet organisational deployments, IT Security compliance and tools
- Demonstrates flexibility, agility and the ability to respond effectively to changing environments, expected and unexpected
- Experience working with Local Area Networks (LANs) and Storage Area Networks (SANs)
- Excellent knowledge of all aspects of IT, and an in-depth understanding of Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Windows and Mac operating systems and Office applications, Linux, networking, and VMware
- Employs sound judgment in determining how innovation, radical or incremental, will be deployed to create business value.
- Experience of working within a larger Project or Program is desirable
- Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking and leadership skills
- Improves organizational performance through the application of original thinking to existing and emerging business models
- Certification in ITIL with focus on Service Transition and Service Operation highly desirable
- Certification in Infrastructure technologies highly desirable
- Experience with capacity planning and management
- A desire for personal growth through continuous learning
- Experience with planning disaster recovery and integrating into business continuity process
- Experience in building effective relationships with customers and management
