The Garvan Institute of Medical Research is about changing the practice of medicine. Its Kinghorn Centre for Clinical Genomics (KCCG) is exploiting revolutionary changes in genome sequencing technology to advance disease research, take the genome into the clinic, and change patient care.

The opportunity:

This opportunity is for a talented and motivated Front End Engineer with a strong background in computer science, outstanding front end development skills, and a passion for learning, to join KCCG’s software development team.

The Front End Engineer will work closely with other engineers in an agile software development environment. Users will include clinicians, pathologists, data scientists (bioinformaticians), and researchers within KCCG and across the world. The front end developer’s work will revolutionise the productivity of all these users, and directly impact on patient care and the understanding of the fundamentals of disease.

Required Skills and Experience

Craft aesthetically and functionally flawless user experiences.
Deliver expert level JavaScript, HTML, and CSS code for modern browsers.
Interface with engineers and product owners to plan and organize the development of our products.
Influence how and what we build with demonstrated technical expertise.
Understand and implement technologies across the full web stack.
Manage the release life cycle and feature roadmap of our products.
Demonstrated experience working in an agile environment
Experience with testing frameworks across languages including unit, integration and acceptance testing
Experience with source code management tools.
