The opportunity:

This opportunity is for a talented and motivated DevOps engineer with a strong background in computer science and excellent automation skills to join KCCG’s software development team. The role of the DevOps Engineer is to manage the ecosystem of virtual machines that support KCCG’s software development ((Dev, UAT, Staging, Production) environments.

Required Skills and Experience

A degree in computer engineering, or related discipline.
Systems administration experience
Experience with testing frameworks across languages including unit, integration and acceptance testing.
Experience with automation frameworks (example: puppet or chef)
Experience with source code management tools (git preferable)
Experience with large scale data storage, using both SQL and NoSQL variants

The Institute

The Garvan Institute of Medical Research, renowned for innovation and excellence, is building its next generation data analysis infrastructure to unlock the secrets of the genome and ultimately transform health care. Garvan’s genome factory sequences 150 Human Genomes every 3 days (18000 genomes per year), and at over 100 Gigabytes per genome we annually generate more than 1.5 Petabytes of raw data that needs to be analysed by data scientists.
