The Garvan Institute of Medical Research is one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes, with over 600 scientists, students and support staff. We pioneer study into the most widespread diseases affecting our community today, including cancer, neurodegenerative and mental diseases, disorders of the immune system, diabetes and obesity, osteoporosis and other skeletal disorders. 

The Human Resources Team at Garvan provides a range of strategic and operational services for the institute and its people. These areas include employee engagement, policy development, recruitment and retention and performance management. The team's focus is on supporting the strategic objectives of the Institute as well as its people and aims to develop a positive, engaging and high performance culture.

 

The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated part-time HR Administrator to join our friendly team for a 6 month fixed term. Work pattern is flexible and will be 5-6 hours per day over 3 days per week.  This is a busy role covering activities from drafting a range of staff-related correspondence including; contracts, transfers, changes, advice, probation, termination etc., maintaining staff files and general administrative duties.

 

About You

As the go-to person you will possess a professional and positive attitude with the ability to follow through and resolve issues, and:

  • Have prior experience in a similar role
  • Strong administrative and coordination skills
  • Excellent customer services skills and ethics
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Have worked with 1 or more HRIS’s (preferably ADP)
  • Have sound knowledge of the Microsoft office suite
