Your role will be:

Our People & Culture function is going through a transformation from traditional HR to modern centre of excellence, introducing the business-partnering model. We are after a true experienced business partner to join the team and help demonstrate the benefits of business-partnering to our leaders. You will be working across the end-to-end employee lifecycle and taking part in or leading projects including performance, talent strategy, engagement, inclusion & balance and leadership development.

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Working with client groups to co-create and deliver a strongly business relevant People Plan as well as contribute to the development of business plans.
  • Building relationships with leaders as a trusted adviser that solves people challenges and establishing and maintaining influential relationships to help guide positive employee interactions and outcomes.
  • Facilitating the development of leaders required to create the desired Garvan leadership portfolio of the future.
  • Bringing strategies to life through the delivery of innovative people solutions.
  • Day-to-day interface with staff members, providing advice and guidance to employees on policies and processes.
  • Facilitating talent reviews, succession planning and ongoing talent development.
  • Working as a catalyst for change and continually challenging current state where opportunities for improvement are identified.

You’ll be someone with: 

  • Strategic business partnering/consulting experience working with senior stakeholders.
  • Significant experience in HR.
  • Tertiary qualified in HR, Psychology or equivalent.
  • Experience in HR functional service models resulting in strong business outcomes.
  • Other relevant business and industry experience.
  • Ability to provide management coaching.
  • Ability to multitask and navigate competing priorities while persuading business leaders to actively engage.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian employment law and experience in handling employment relations issues.
  • Experience in using one or more HRIS (Workday would be an advantage).
  • Strong commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and highly confidential nature with an ability to exercise sound judgement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate sensitive matters.
