Our scientists are researchers who work towards making significant breakthroughs in scientific discovery to positively impact human health.
The Genomic Cancer Medicine Program (GCMP) comprises two arms: a Molecular Screening and Therapeutics study and a Cancer Risk study. Both studies include a psychosocial project conducted in collaboration with the Psycho-oncology Co-operative Research Group (PoCoG) – University of Sydney.
The Opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a Research Coordinator who will be responsible for co-ordinating the research requirements for the psychosocial projects associated with the GCMP. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for undertaking varied research activities mainly related to quantitative studies examining the psychosocial, behavioural and ethical issues in genomic cancer testing, funded by the NHMRC.
Responsibilities may include:
- Provide research and administrative support to complete research projects
- Entry of data into research databases
- Liaise with study participants to supply questionnaires and ensure their completion
- Assist with information/data collection and data quality control
- Assist with preparation of study documents
- Assist with preparation of ethics submissions and annual HREC reports
- Conduct data analysis and literature searches, aid in preparing reports
To be considered for this position, you will possess the following key skills and attributes:
- Degree in a health related or clinical discipline, science, psychology or similar
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Well-developed organisational and multi-tasking skills and administrative abilities
- Demonstrated understanding of research methodology and understanding of confidentiality issues of accessing patient records in research settings
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail
Desirable
Experience in a research-intensive environment and/or co-ordinating study participants
