The Opportunity

We are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Technical Events Coordinator to provide audio-visual skills and expertise, as well as event management assistance to Garvan Institute Operations and IT services. As well as the numerous meeting facilities and resources, Garvan hosts academic conferences, fundraising events, educational tours and also hires out these facilities to external parties. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide all technical AV support for meetings, seminars and events
  • Set up and maintenance of furniture, equipment, rooms and venues for events
  • Assist in the management of venue booking calendar and events on-site
  • Liaise with event organisers and external contractors associated with events regarding event logistics, insurances and inductions
  • Liaise and communicate with other Garvan support services staff regarding any details they may need associated with the event
  • Other duties as required

To be successful in the position you will demonstrate the following key skills:

  • Polycom audio and video expertise
  • AMX Control Systems knowledge
  • Familiarity with both Mac and PC operating systems
  • Powerpoint presentation applications skills
  • Experience in a wide range of relevant applications such as: Keynote, Skype, GoToMeeting, JoinIn,
  • Experience in video conferencing applications
  • Good time management skills
  • Flexible attitude to work
  • Willing to work after hours when required
