The opportunity:

We are seeking an exceptional Bioinformatics Research Officer to join Garvan’s Cancer Division under the leadership of Prof. David Thomas. This three year position will focus on the development and validation of bioinformatic analyses of high throughput sequencing data of from both normal and cancer samples applied to single-cells, whole genomes, and transcriptomes.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • PhD degree that has been undertaken in a related area of science
  • Highly developed skills in bioinformatics and genomics (essential)
  • Highly developed written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong project management skills

 

The Institute

Genomics currently powers much of the science at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. Both its factory-scale whole genome sequencing facility and its newly established single cell facility, are helping Garvan researchers unlock the secrets of biology and disease, thereby transforming health care.
